About the Arts Council
The Arts Council of Indianapolis is a not-for-profit local arts agency serving central Indiana. Our mission is to advance and promote the arts through funding, advocacy, business, artistic and technical assistance, public and private support, and technology. To accomplish this, we focus on four strategic initiatives:
- Advocacy
- Support for Artists and Arts Organizations
- Audience Development
- Organizational Excellence
Broadly speaking, access to the arts in Indianapolis is what the Arts Council of Indianapolis is all about.
Access to the city’s incredibly diverse arts community for residents and visitors.
Access for artists and arts organizations to the tools, support and services they need to flourish and produce art.
To accomplish these objectives more effectively, the Arts Council has developed two distinct web sites.
Indyarts.org – focused on arts consumers. The site provides a searchable calendar of more than 600 events, resources and information on more than 600 artists and hundreds of arts organizations, public art guides and maps, and lots of other resources and information to help connect patrons to the arts.
ArtsCouncilofIndianapolis.org – focused on our stakeholders. The site provides the tools and services for artists, arts organizations, and others to deliver art and arts programs to our community. It includes all grant information, guidelines, and application forms for individuals and organizations, resources for artists – such as how to join the artist database or perform in the Artsgarden, media resources – such as press releases and research reports, and much more.
