Taylor Fengya, Grant Services & Education Partnerships Coordinator

Provenance: Indianapolis, IN

Current neighborhood: Franklin Township (southeast side of Marion County), IN

First Job: My position here at the Arts Council is my first job out of college. While obtaining my B.S. in Arts Administration at Butler University, I worked part-time at Arts for Learning, the Schrott Center for the Arts of Butler University, and as a dance instructor in Brownsburg, IN. I am very lucky that I am able to call my current position here at the Arts Council my first job!

If I weren't an arts administrator, I would be: I have always been interested in the workings of the mind, so I would probably be a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Inspiration: My inspiration comes from my family, friends, and the people around me. I also love reading inspirational books and sharing inspirational quotes.

Reading: My favorite books to read are typically fiction. I enjoy reading fantasy, dystopian society-themed books, and mysteries. I also enjoy reading blog posts from ArtsJournal and the Americans for the Arts' ArtsBlog.

Listening to: I enjoy anything on the Top 40 hits, but as a classically-trained dancer, I also enjoy classical music. You can also find me listening to K-LOVE in my car.

Current Project: One of my current projects at the Arts Council has been to create online applications for all of our grant applications. We are very excited to move forward with the online grant application process. I have also been involved with the Any Given Child Indy initiative, which is a project that I look forward to continuing.

Love about the Indy arts scene: I love that the Indy arts scene is continuing to grow and develop. There is so much talent in Indianapolis that we would like to remain here. Our goal is to keep artists and arts organizations in Indianapolis in order for the arts to grow and develop that much more. I am excited to see what the future holds for the Indy arts scene.

When you are not out crusading for the arts, where can we find you? You can find me spending time with family and friends. I also love to frequent Mass Avenue on weekends.
