I’m most excited about sharing an art form that is unique to Indianapolis, and shedding light on a style of movement almost lost to time. I think bringing together the creators and visionaries to curate a piece of Indianapolis history is needed.

Meet Art & Soul 2024 Featured Artist: Austin Day
What are you most looking forward to about being an Art & Soul featured artist?
How do you see dance changing people’s lives?
Dance is a language of the people, a statement in time and rite of passage. It allows people to share their existence across time and space. Connecting with dance in any meaningful way connects you with the lineage of movement so many before us are a part of. The nature of dance is to transform the I into the we.
Who are some other dancers or choreographers in Indy whose work you admire?
Dancers that I admire in Indianapolis are Nicholas “Wong Chewy” Jones for his incredible versatility and authenticity, Keegan “Seoul” Loye for his dedication to his craft and future generations of young dancers at 31svn dance academy, and Mónica Muñoz who is a master teacher through Kids Dance Outreach that elevated my own understanding of the pedagogy of dance.
