Indiana Sports Corp and Indy Arts Council announced the five central Indiana artists selected to create the 2024 All Lanes Lead to Indy artworks.

Selected from a pool of 72 applicants, the five artists who will create this year’s welcoming artwork are Kyng Rhodes, Joy Hernandez, Lucie Rice, Mary Mindiola, and Monroe Bush.

The All Lanes Lead to Indy Art Project is an initiative of the Indy Arts Council, Indiana Sports Corp, and USA Swimming in support and celebration of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials. The project seeks to showcase artwork created by central Indiana artists to raise awareness for the event, inspire individuals through the sport of swimming, and encourage the community to join us for this historical moment.

“The U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will be the event of the summer as we welcome visitors from around the country to Indianapolis to experience nine exciting nights of competition,” said Indiana Sports Corp President Patrick Talty. “The All Lanes Lead to Indy Art represents how this event impacts every area of our community, will be an important part of our downtown activations, and will truly showcase to fans that All Lanes Lead to Indy.”

Each artist will create a piece of original artwork, to be placed throughout the city during the Olympic Swimming Trials June 15-23, using their own unique processes and styles to showcase the theme of “All Lanes Lead to Indy.”

Hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, Kyng Rhodes is a contemporary artist whose work transcends the canvas, radiating with vibrancy, color, and profound expressiveness. Born with a natural inclination towards the arts, Rhodes has evolved into a creator whose distinctive style captivates audiences and invites them into a world where every stroke of the brush is a testament to the rich tapestry of life.

Joy Hernandez is an aerosol & acrylic artist and muralist based in Indianapolis. With a background in animation, television news, and journalism, Hernandez has created a colorful world of her own, focusing on bright colors, subject matter that grabs her attention, and an appreciation of science fiction, pop culture, comic art and cartooning.

Lucie Rice is an illustrator and designer known for her colorful and whimsical imagery and use of pattern, detail and text. Rice has been storytelling with her art since early childhood and is most inspired by animals and nature. Her playful work can be seen as large scale public art, in publications, and is featured in a variety of products.

Using no computers or paint, only magazine paper, scissors and glue, Mary Mindiola, who is originally from Venezuela, creates pieces that are full of vibrant colors and hidden messages. Mindiola’s work is fueled by her interest in conservation and shows that we are all connected and need to work together to help our planet.

Monroe Bush has more than 30 years of experience in graphic arts, 2D/3D animation and television broadcast design. Bush has always loved photography. He is an award winning artist and published photographer. He is intrigued with motion and the human form, with its infinite possibilities of emotions and stories that can be told.

“We are thrilled to build on the momentum of this year’s arts and sports collaborations with the ‘All Lanes Lead to Indy’ art program,” said Julie Goodman, President and CEO at Indy Arts Council. “Welcoming the world to Indianapolis with engaging public art is a key part of our mission and we are excited to celebrate this group of artists’ diverse talents in June.”
