Community-Driven Campaign Uses Art to Raise Awareness, Reduce Stigma and Promote Recovery Resources
Indy Arts Council is supporting the City of Indianapolis in their effort to combat the opioid epidemic with the launch of a new multimedia campaign, Recovery Starts With Us. The campaign, which will run from mid-October through early December, combines the power of local art with impactful messaging to raise awareness of opioid addiction, reduce the stigma around substance use disorder and provide vital resources to those in need.
In partnership with seven local artists, the Indy Arts Council will showcase vibrant artwork across digital billboards throughout Indianapolis, as well as on Facebook and Instagram. The campaign serves as a follow-up to National Opioid Awareness Day and National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Awareness Month, ensuring that the conversation surrounding recovery continues.
“The arts have always been a powerful tool for connection and healing,” said Melissa Rowe, Director of Marketing & Communications at the Indy Arts Council. “By featuring the work of local artists in this campaign, we are not only raising awareness about the devastating impact of the opioid crisis, but also inspiring hope and community involvement in recovery.”
