A new collaboration between Indy Arts Council and Madam Walker Legacy Center will offer a larger stage and introduce a broader audience to the 2025 Art & Soul program and its four Featured Artists.

Now in its 29th year, Art & Soul remains a beloved celebration of Indy’s Black artistry, showcasing and supporting the finest performers and makers through public events at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Specifically, the program plays a crucial role in amplifying the careers of four selected “Art & Soul Featured Artists.”

New this year, the Art & Soul Featured Artist Showcase will debut at the Madam Walker Legacy Center on April 11, 2025. The team’s expertise in live production and its wide community reach takes this event to the next level.

“Not only does The Walker have a long history of amplifying Black creativity and culture, the team is known for proactively seeking out supportive experiences for local creatives,” says Kavita Mahoney, Vice President of Indy Arts Council. “We’re honored to collaborate and deepen the Art & Soul experience for the whole community.”

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Indy Arts Council on Art & Soul. This partnership embodies our shared commitment to celebrating and uplifting the vibrant arts community in Indianapolis,” said Kristian Little Stricklen, President of Madam Walker Legacy Center. “Together, I have no doubt we will create transformative experiences and inspire future generations of artists and cultural leaders.”

A full schedule of Art & Soul events taking place around the community, as well as the 2025 selected Featured Artists, will be announced in January.
