For Artists
Show your work here!
Contemporary artists with a strong connection to central Indiana, with preference for artists residing in Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, and Boone counties.
Gallery 924 accepts exhibition proposals year-round. While there is no deadline to submit, proposals are reviewed and the exhibition schedule finalized in late summer/early fall each year. We also solicit artists through open calls and direct invitations.
Artists should have a strong personal style and artistic vision that is apparent in their proposal. Past artwork has included a wide range of medium and subject matter, including 2D, 3D, digital, sound, light, interactive, performance, installation art, and more. We welcome new ideas and projects that take creative risks, especially those that take full advantage of the gallery space as a site. Community collaborations are also welcome – guest-curated group exhibitions, artists’ projects with ties to important community initiatives, and artist-led collective actions, for example.
- Gallery 924 hosts six exhibitions each year, including annual fellowship shows and the TINY Show. Therefore we can curate three to four additional exhibitions per year.
- Because our goal is to showcase a wide array of artists in central Indiana, we are unlikely to host a solo exhibition by the same artist more than once. Proposals for group exhibitions that include previous solo artists will be considered.
- Exhibitions are scheduled 12-18 months in advance.
There is no formal application or form, but your proposal should include:
- Your contact information, including public social media accounts (make sure the account is dedicated to your artwork)
- A description of the show you are proposing – tell us about yourself (artist statement and bio are encouraged), are other artists involved, what is your show about, why is Gallery 924 the right space for your work?
- Up to 10 images and/or video of the type of artwork that would be part of your show – it doesn’t need to be the exact artwork, but should be indicative of what we would see
- Does your show require any special equipment, lighting, installation?
- Is there a particular timeliness to your show; for example, must it occur at the same time something else is happening in order to deepen its impact?
- Anything else to help us better understand what your show is about
