In 2022, Indy Arts Council invested $2.8 million in nearly 100 arts and culture organizations, helping to support the events that 8 million residents and visitors enjoy each year. The Arts Council administers funds through the City of Indianapolis' Annual Grants Program, and we expanded the program in 2023 to support a record number 85 organizations.

Last year, our first IDEA Learning Series convened 300+ arts administrators and board members to discuss DEIA challenges and opportunities. Our team also provides research, public policy resources, and marketing support to the Indianapolis arts & culture sector.

In 2022, the Indy Arts Council invested $1 million in the careers of 567 central Indiana artists through professional development, paid opportunities and networking events. Some of our signature programs include theArt & Soul festival, the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowships, and the Welcome Race Fans artworks that greet Indy 500 fans each May.

Our Gallery 924 exhibits work by Indiana artists and gathers arts lovers for popular shows like DeHaan Artists of Distinction and TINY. The Arts Council also operates the Indianapolis Artsgarden–an iconic venue in the heart of downtown that showcases student and professional performers year-round and hosts private events.

Working with local and national artists, Indy Arts Council helped create 142 new public artworks in 2022. These artworks don't just make our city more vibrant; they connect us to our neighborhoods and stories.

Some of our most visible recent projects include the Bicentennial Legends mural series, the permanent “Art of the Game” exhibition at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and the KIND Gallery at Indianapolis International Airport.

The city’s nonprofit arts & culture sector also generates $440 million in annual economic impact, serves 8 million residents and visitors annually, and supports 30,000 full-and part-time jobs.
