Share your events and stories with Mirror Indy

The name Mirror Indy comes from wanting local news in which we see ourselves. In the arts and culture section, our goal is to feature the many amazing things happening in our city.

It’s a big goal.

Arts and culture means something different to each person — it can be theater, it can be a fancy art show or punk music in someone’s basement. It can be a crochet club at the library or wrestling on Friday nights. It can be a great cup of chai or a breakfast restaurant that makes people feel welcome.

Pitching a story or sending a tip
Arts and culture reporter Mesgana Waiss has covered underground dance clubs, budget cuts to cultural organizations and other important breaking news . Sometimes we need to tell stories to hold people and organizations accountable. If you have a story tip, you can reach Mesgana Waiss at mesgana.waiss@mirrorindy.org. If you are a writer looking to publish arts and culture stories, send me an email to jennifer.delgadillo@mirrorindy.org and tell me about your ideas and a little bit about yourself.

Promoting your event
There are a few ways you can share your events with Mirror Indy. The easiest way is to upload your event to our event calendar. You can also send your event information to hello@mirrorindy.org. If the editors think your event has high community value, we might end up sharing it in one of our newsletters.

Sharing with others how much you love Indy
If you are interested in submitting a journal, email me at jennifer.delgadillo@mirrorindy.org and tell me about yourself. If what you want to share is something that already happened, like giving a shout out to a restaurant that no longer exists or a cool house show in the 90s that you wish you could live all over again, you can always share a photo and a memory with community journalism director Ariana Beedie. She hosts the Time Machine section in Play List.
