As a multi-hyphenate artist, poet, story-teller, educator, film-maker, community builder and Hip Hop emcee, Manòn Voice’s work lives at the intersection of art and activism, where storytelling is an invitation to transformative dialogue and radical reimagining. Voice is drawn to creating spaces where mediums of Poetry, Hip-Hop, Film and the power of the spoken word can bridge divides, and reveal our shared humanity. In her roles as a Lecturer of Hip-Hop Music, History, and Culture at Butler University and director of Butler’s IT WAS ALL A DREAM Hip Hop Ensemble, she aims to elevate Hip-Hop’s rich legacy as a vessel for education, resilience, and change.

Through her creative practice, Voice takes on the role of poetic documentarian, exploring the silent and outspoken narratives within our social landscape to underscore the possibilities inherent in our human spirit. Her art confronts the pressing issues of our time—housing insecurity, mass incarceration, environmental justice, food access, and racism—while also reaching for beauty and hope, which she sees as revolutionary acts in themselves. Through each poem, performance, and film, she seeks to illuminate both the wounds and the nobility of the human experience, inviting viewers and listeners to witness not only struggle but also the resilience and grace within our communities.

Guided by a mission of artistic responsibility, Voice serves as an advocate and ally, working with organizations that embody these values. Whether teaching youth with Arts for Learning Indiana, serving as an Artist Ambassador with the Indiana Repertory Theatre, or championing our neighbors without homes through her role at Horizon House Indy, she is dedicated to fostering empathy and a shared sense of stewardship. Her recent work, her film ROOT BLACK, centering the legacy of the Afro-Diasporic agrarian heritage and Black Farming past and present in the United states, premiered at the Indy International Film Festival, representing an ongoing commitment to capturing untold stories that invite both reflection and healing.

Ultimately, Manòn Voice is driven by the belief that art holds the power to disrupt, awaken, and connect. By unearthing and uplifting voices within marginalized communities, she hopes to inspire others to recognize our collective responsibility in shaping a just, equitable world. Through each piece she creates, her intention is to foster a sense of belonging and possibility, offering a platform for dialogue, discovery, and the pursuit of a beauty that both witnesses and elevates.
