PsyWrn Simone is an Indianapolis, IN based multi-hyphenate Performing Artist who has been a vibrant force in the Arts community for the last several years. Primarily known for music projects, she is gaining visibility from expanding her artistic prowess into theatre and other creative disciplines.
Driven by the legendary Nina Simone’s appeal for artists to “reflect the times”, PsyWrn blends activism and art. Incorporating various mediums of soulful expression, her performances are a captivating, multi-sensory, experience! Multifaceted, PsyWrn seamlessly shifts from Vocalist to Songwriter, to Lyricist, to Spoken Word Artist, to Actor, to Teaching Artist—depending on the context. Armed with passion and compelled by intention, her intersectional work is both an examination of and commentary on culture with a central focus to educate, empower, and effect change for those relegated to the margins of society. Sonically, her music infuses many genres while “wrecking the status quo with a beat, lyrics, and a seductive melody.” Simply put, PsyWrn Simone creates art that engages The Mind, centers The Muse, and rouses The Soul!
PsyWrn has been honored as a “Featured Artist” by the Indy Arts Council’s “Art & Soul Celebration,” featured in projects with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra; and boasts performances at some of the city’s most celebrated venues and stages, including but not limited to: The Madam Walker Legacy Center, The Jazz Kitchen, Vogue Theatre, Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre, BUTTER Fine Art Fair, The Cabaret, Indiana State Museum, Fonseca Theatre Company, Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre, and Indiana Repertory Theatre. Additionally, she functions as the Associate Artistic Director for the Asante Art Institute of Indianapolis, serves on the Board of Directors for Inspire Music Collective, and is a Founding Company Member of the Indianapolis Black Theater Company.
