Health insurance enrollment is open again by special order of the president

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, President Biden has reopened the health insurance marketplace for a special extension to give all Americans the chance to be ensured. If you missed the open enrollment window this winter, you have until August 15 to get insurance for 2021.

The even better news? A provision of the just-passed American Rescue Plan will lower premium costs for millions of people. If plans were too pricey for your budget before, it's time you checked again.

If you have collected unemployment benefits (including PUA) at any time this year, you qualify for a free Silver plan with lower deductible and co-payment costs. When you connect with a health insurance provider through the Freelancers Union National Benefits Platform, they will tell you what subsidy you qualify for and help you get the best deal possible.

Remember, when you buy health insurance through Freelancers Union, they receive a small fee that allows them to continue their advocacy work all year round. Coverage for you, support for all freelancers. That's a win-win.
