Artist: Januarie York
Spoken-word artist and poet Januarie York devotes her poem Space to fellow artists who share their work without knowing if it will be embraced by the public. “It's my way of saying ‘thank you’ and ‘keep going,’ ” York says. When artists are fearless, she writes, “This is what happens when paintbrushes sleep on beds of imagination. New masterpieces created in dreams.” It’s no surprise York relates to artists from multiple disciplines. She acts in plays, records spoken-word albums and pen essays for a blog titled “The ‘I’ is Never Silent.”
