MicroAffections

See it: 1 N. Pennsylvania St.
Artist: Danicia Monet

The title of Danicia Monet’s MicroAffections offers an uplifting counterpoint to discriminatory microaggressions that belittle and demean. “I’m So Happy to See You Here” is her specific message, seen in letters woven into a construction fence at the northeast corner of Washington and Pennsylvania Streets. Fellow artist Bekah Pollard led a team of weavers who installed Monet’s “Happy” message along Pennsylvania Street and the Arts Council’s pandemic slogan – #IndyKeepsCreating – along Washington Street. Pollard reported a popular sentiment voiced by passersby: “You’re making the city more beautiful.”

Weaving installation lead by artist, Bekah Pollard with design support by Lindsey Lord and Mike Barclay and installation support from Farnaz Farrokhi, Braydee Euliss, Brent Aldrich, Mariah Niedbalski, Emma Harris, Bailey Peycha, Amir Kolta, Angi Aldrich, Tom Aldrich, and Mark Ford.
Special thanks to Reagan Outdoor for donating repurposed billboard material for this project.
