Having the time and funds to properly explore my creative interests made this a renewing, and frankly, dream-like experience.
Pete's renewal process began the moment he opened his congratulations letter welcoming him into the fellowship program. That message "gave me a determined swagger when moving toward my component goals." He trav- eled to his hometown of Detroit, MI to explore the street art that he had caught glimpses of during his childhood. Through his fellowship experience, he yearned to create a social media hub dedicated to street art of the Midwest. He traveled throughout the region discovering and documenting street art communities and their work.
He took road trips to Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and Kentucky documenting artwork, meeting artists whenever possible, and then reporting his findings through his new social media hub using Facebook and Twitter. Pete's biggest surprise came when Bosma Enterprises approached him about partnering to engage the visually impaired. What developed was a street art and multimedia exhibition, entitled BLIND: VisualEyes Without Your Eyes, presented at Gallery 924.
