Some things are carved in stone, including pottery by Cathy Cozart. Meet the Westfield artist as she demonstrates her creative process, and then hands you the tools and clay to give it a try. This free, drop-in 2nd SaturDate event is from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery, 22 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel.

Designs by the Westfield ceramicist reflect her love for intrigue and mystery. “I want to create anticipation and mystery with each lidded piece. I want the viewer to wonder what is inside…from the wonder of what color is hidden under the lid to the anticipation of what object could someday be hidden inside,” says Cathy.

She also has a love for the tactile nature of clay art, adding, “I want the user (of her pieces) to enjoy the feel of each finger curved around a handle or the weight balancing beautifully in his/her hands.”
