“Ceremony for Our Land,” an immersive music and poetry performance, is led by Grace McKenzie and Daixuan Ai from IU Jacobs school of Music. This collaboration explores mindfulness in live music, creating a space for stillness and reflection. The performance is presented as part of the opening reception of the gallery exhibition, “Distant Thunder,” by Artists for Climate Awareness.

Bringing together four artists from diverse backgrounds, the performance invites you to consider themes of land, place, and belonging. Featuring live poetry by Wahpe Clifford and Ash Iteska, interwoven with electronic soundscapes and improvised instrumentals, this experience is unique to the moment we share. We invite you to step into this space, to listen, to feel, and to reflect on the land beneath your feet and the histories it carries.

Viewing of art and an open reception with refreshments starts at 3 pm at the Arts alliance Center on April 6. The performance begins at 4 pm. There is a second performance at 5 pm. Free to the public.
