The venerable film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the Great American Songbook Foundation is marking the occasion with a special free film screening and celebrity guest appearances in conjunction with the Foundation’s upcoming international conference on the legacy of the Hollywood musical.
On May 15, Lorna Luft – actress, singer and daughter of Judy Garland – will be on hand for a Q&A session about her mother’s landmark role in MGM’s 1944 musical MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS. The event will include a screening of the film and displays of rarely seen historical items from the Songbook Library & Archives. Learn more and reserve your free tickets at TheSongbook.org.
