Flor y Canción will explore the songs of Latina women composers and singers that have left a legacy in the history of the Latin American music world. This free event presented is in collaboration with Arte Mexicano en Indiana, Nopal Cultural and Mujeres Conectadas.
About Flor y Canción + Yuri Rodriguez
Flor y Canción is a new musical project by Yuri Rodriguez and guest musicians. Yuriria (Yuri) Rodríguez is a native Costa Rican singer, artist and educator, who has been an ambassador of Latin American music in the United States for the past 20 years. With Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music from Indiana University, she has shared the stage and master classes with grammy award winners like Michael Spiro, Sandra Luna, Gonzalo Grau, Pablo Ziegler, and Sylvia McNair. In the Midwest, Yuri has offered performances of Latin American Music, Music of Latin American women composers, and Latin American folklore. She has focused on genres like: Nueva Canción, Protest Song, Latin American folklore, Tango, Salsa, Ranchero song and Latin Jazz.
Nopal Cultural’s Más Artes Más Cultura
This event is a part of the Nopal Cultural’s Más Artes Más Cultura in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Arte Mexicano en Indiana & Red Global MX Crossroads present Identidad, Dreams, y Marchas 2024 an art exhibition featuring works by established, emerging and young Mexican and Mexican-American and Latina/o/e/x artists, in collaboration with the Indy Arts Council.
