The Full Circle Nine Gallery (FC9) will feature Jennifer Aiken in “Within the Quiet: A Study in Abstract Watercolor” as part of the First Friday art tour at the Full Circle Nine Gallery (FC9), 6-9pm on Friday, June 6th. Admission and parking are free.
“As a watercolor artist, my practice is rooted in the exploration of line, color, value, and texture—elements that speak a language beyond form or representation,” Aiken said. “I paint because it is a way for me to process the world internally and externally. Watercolor, in particular, allows for a balance of control and spontaneity—moments where pigment blooms unexpectedly or a line fragmenting into something new. That tension is part of what draws me in.”
About Jennifer Aiken
Originally from Indianapolis, Jennifer Aiken has found that art has always been a thread running through her life in one form or another. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Missouri and then for many years Aiken taught pottery at the Indianapolis Art Center. In December, 2023, she switched gears to working in watercolor after some major life changes, and finds peace in the contemplative environment the medium provides.
“I rarely play music, choosing instead to listen to the subtle sounds of nature just outside my studio door,” Aiken said. “My show centers on emotional landscapes, internal states expressed not through literal imagery, but through movement, layering, and the interplay of shape and hue. It’s a conversation between control and surrender, clarity and ambiguity. Each piece is a moment captured: A breath, a memory, a fragment of mood or intuition. It invites the viewer to slow down and reconnect…with oneself, with stillness, with emotion.”

The Full Circle Nine Gallery operates as an artist cooperative gallery, with each of the member artists and the board dividing gallery duties and artists roles. The artists work together to help each other to help each other advance in a skill and practice as well as to bring success to the gallery. With over two dozen artists occupying a large, three-room space of the more factory reminiscent portion of the Factory Arts District North building, Full Circle Nine Gallery offers a wide variety of art forms, media, and approaches.
