Full Circle Nine Gallery Features Wayne Bertsch in “Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth” For January First Friday
January 3rd, 2025
Indianapolis, IN—The Full Circle Nine Gallery (FC9) will feature Wayne Bertsch in “Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth” as part of the First Friday art tour at the Full Circle Nine Gallery (FC9), 6-9pm on Friday, January 3rd. Admission and parking are free.
Bertsch, known for his iconic “Barfly” comic in NUVO, creates vibrant pop art of actors, musicians, and iconic characters made exclusively from recycled materials. Bertsch was featured in August, but an electrical disruption left FC9’s First Friday in the dark, so this is ‘once more, with lights.’ Bertsch’s work has been celebrated for its unique style and commentary and much of his work is centered around geek culture, with references to Star Wars, Star Trek, and comic books, which will be celebrated for the evening.
About Wayne Bertsch
Living in Indy since 1998, Bertsch has drawn comics for local publications, which led to design work, which led to gig posters, before eventually alighting upon gallery showing. The artist is already steeped in the visuals and language of pop and local culture.
Bertsch is an artist who is always creating. He is self-taught, and has always found solace in illustration. Whether he is on the phone or in front of the television, or enjoying a quiet drink at a bar with a napkin and pen, be assured his mind is firing on all creative cylinders. Growing up, Bertsch’s primary ambition was to become a Marvel or DC artist.
“My numerous rejection letters from those early days even gave me the idea to make a graphic novel from the rejections alone,” Bertsch said. “Anything can become art with application.”
