With a familiar name, and a fresh approach, Jackson Grimm combines songwriting born from the southern Indiana hills with the lonesome sounds of the Appalachian Mountains. He deftly marries folk and pop melodies with the strong music culture of his adopted home. Growing up in a musical family on an Indiana farm, he journeyed south to study American Traditional Music at Warren Wilson College. There, he was wept into the world of fiddler conventions, square dances, and acoustic music camps, most notably the Swannanoa Gathering. He’s got three albums to his credit; The Airline Sessions, The Bull Moose Party, and the 2021 release Sober Again.
Jackson currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina, and can be found playing around the southeast with his band, The Bull Moose Party. They have been Grimm’s backing band since his 2018 debut album, which has been hailed as a “basically perfect Americana album”, The band is tight and dynamic, replete with fast picking, harmony singing, and modern string band swagger. Grimm and the band blend modern original folk music, traditional stringboard music, and bluegrass covers you’re sure to sing along with, and have become esteemed members of the Asheville traditional music scene.
Jackson Grimm stands out as an artist who stays true to his roots while enlarging the boundaries of the genre, all while being a humble and sincerely likeable guy.
