Roxanne Shante Was raised the Queensbridge Public Housing Projects in Queens, New York. She released her first single at the age of 14 titled Roxanne’s Revenge the first Response record for the UTFO song Roxanne Roxanne. She prompted The Roxanne Wars which included over 86 response records, aimed directly at Roxanne Shante. She was the first female Rapper to have Platinum singles and Gold albums. She is a 2023 NAACP Legacy Award Recipient is presently a spokes person for Diabetes Association, Breast Cancer and was a CASA in Newark, New Jersey. She and her husband run the non profit program ”Mind Over Matter” located in Newark, NJ. She serves on many boards and is very active in the community. So she is not only Live On Stage she is Live In The Community.
