Born in Taiwan and raised in Australia, Ray Chen was a child prodigy who gained attention as first-prize winner at the Yehudi Menuhin (2008) and Queen Elizabeth (2009) competitions. Since then, he has released a series of acclaimed recordings on the Sony and Decca labels and performed across Europe, Asia and the Americas with leading orchestras including the London and Los Angeles philharmonics. Featured on ForbesÂ’ list of the 30 most influential Asians under 30, he plays a 1715 Stradivarius once owned by famed Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim (1831-1907) and on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
