Kicking off Earth Month, the Hoosier Environmental Council and Indianapolis Women’s Chorus will host a free event, “The World We Share: Voices United for Indiana’s Environment” on April 5 at 3 p.m. at Unity of Indianapolis, 907 N. Delaware St.

The gathering will feature powerful community singing and offer inspiring stories from influential voices who are working to address environmental challenges, and tangible ways for people to find their voices and take action.

Speakers will include:

• State Rep. Carey Hamilton (HD87);
• Dr. Gabriel Filippelli, executive director of the Indiana University Environmental Resilience Institute;
• Elizabeth Gore, chairperson of the Martindale Brightwood Environmental Justice Collaborative; and
• Raina Maiga, executive director of Confront the Climate Crisis and a senior at Purdue Polytechnic High School.

Janet McCabe, former deputy administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and longtime IWC singer, said, “This gathering is a dream collaboration. It’s a chance to amplify our collective impact and inspire community involvement through personal connection and music.”

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the community sing. No prior experience is needed. This informal and family-friendly activity is open to all.

Hoosier Environmental Council Executive Director Sam Carpenter and IWC Artistic Director Meagan Johnson will lead the event.
