Catch-22 | July 2023

July 11-21, 2023 | Closing Reception: Friday, July 21, 6-9pm

(please note: there is no First Friday reception in July)

Four recently graduated 22-year-old painters come together to create a collaborative series of work dealing with the catch-22 nature of entering the real world as artists after spending so much time in academia.

The artists’ work deals with the passing of time, and how one chooses to spend it. The themes juxtapose daytime skies with nighttime scenes, and time spent with loved ones contrasted with time spent alone.

As emerging artists, it can be a dilemma to decide how one manages their time. Do they take the financial risk of pursuing making a living out of art, or do they prioritize working a stable job to support the life they’ve already built for themselves?
