AFTA ArtsEdWeek fin
In 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution designating the second week of September as National Arts in Education Week. This week is designated National Arts in Education Week to promote and showcase the immense role arts education has in producing engaged, successful, and college and career-ready students.

In 2016, National Arts in Education Week was celebrated in Indianapolis from September 11 - 17, 2016. We started the week on Monday, September 12 with a Kickoff Celebration at the Indianapolis Artsgarden that featured student performances by Young Actors Theatre and Asante Children's Theatre, and Arts Education Trivia Night at Sun King Brewery. That day, we also reached over 200,000 people on social media through our inaugural Thunderclap campaign. Throughout the week, we held a variety of arts education meetings with the Arts Educator Network and Any Given Child Indy committees. Arts administrators and teachers toured two high-performing arts schools in Indianapolis. Community members also listened to a lecture on Teaching Artistry, enjoyed student performances at the Indianapolis Artsgarden, and joined Arts for Learning at Creativity Fest. In addition, over $7,500 was raised by 26 organizations who participated in a Week of Giving to bring high-quality arts education programming to the students in Indianapolis Public Schools.
