SYNOPSIS
Susan Hill’s acclaimed ghost story comes dramatically alive in Stephen Mallatratt’s ingenious stage adaptation. Kipps is obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black. He hires a skeptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcize the fear that grips his soul. It all begins innocently enough, but then, as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds, accidentally bringing the audience along in the process.
Director Liz Carrier is seeking 3 players to fill the following roles:
THE ACTOR: Plays the middle-aged solicitor of Mrs. Drablow’s estate and all other older male roles. 40s-50s.
KIPPS: A young man who plays Kipps throughout the show. Interacts with the ghostly spectre who haunts the estate he is investigating. 20s-30s.
THE WOMAN: A mysterious, ghastly young woman. Does she exist in life, or just as part of Kipps’s nightmares? 25-50.
Auditions will consist of prepared monologues and cold reads. Please prepare a 1-2 minute memorized monologue from a dramatic source.
Potential callbacks on Sunday will consist of readings from the script. When notified of a callback, actors will receive the script readings to prepare. Time frame is 2pm – 6pm.
Copies of the rehearsal schedule will be available for actors to review at auditions. Actors with any conflicts during tech week will not be considered. Please bring known conflicts to auditions. Rehearsals will take place in Noblesville.
The show will run October 24-November 2 (six performances) at the Switch Theatre in Fishers.
