Hancock County Arts is pleased to announce its 2025 Will Vawter Plein Air Competition. The day will begin with artists gathering at the Hancock County Courthouse, 9 E. Main Street, Greenfield, IN, between 8:30 – 10am to check in and enjoy refreshments. Then artists will select from a variety of locations to paint their choice of subject matter in the local area (map will be provided). Artists will return to the Courthouse by 1:30pm to be eligible for judging and awards.
Artists may register on site at the Courthouse, or in advance, and find additional information at www.hancockcountyarts.org.
Registration is $20 for ages 13 through adults, 12 and under is free.
All ages are welcome, youth through adult. Three age groups will be juried and receive monetary awards. Adults $200 and $100; Ages 13-18, $75; and 12 and under $40.
Gather and Check-in from 8:30-10 AM at Hancock County Courthouse, 9 E Main Street, Greenfield, IN. Have your paper/canvas stamped; enjoy refreshments; receive instructions and map. Free coffee and pastries, one lunch, and artist gift bag for each artist. The day is sponsored by Leo’s Market and Eatery and Scattered Bean Coffee Co.
Return by 1:30 PM to be eligible for judging the artwork by Susan Bunce Ritter.
Artists are invited to sell wet works painted at this event. Artists are invited to display their works on June 13 at the Will Vawter Awards Presentation. The art will then be placed for display from June 18 – July 25, at Thrive, Community Foundation of Hancock County, 971 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN, with a public reception on July 11, from 4 – 8pm.
Unsold artwork must be picked up on July 26 between 5-7pm from the HCA gallery.
