This fall, Agape Theater Company is pleased to announce a special Theater Practicum opportunity for our students (ages 8-18) who would like an exciting challenge.
Our Theater Practicum class will feature students in a Community Theater Production of A Christmas Carol. Students will audition for this Theater Practicum Class and perform in the production of this timeless classic with seasoned adults.
General Auditions for this production/ Theater Practicum Class will be on Monday, August, 5th from 6:00-9:00pm at St. Rock’s Cafeteria and Callbacks (by invitation Only) will be the evening of Thursday August 8th.
The cast will be announced soon after Call Backs, then students who are cast may enroll in the Theater Practicum class, which begins the week of August 28th.
Classes meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-9:00, beginning the last week of August, and and will meet weekly on Tuesday nights in September, October, and November. Mandatory Dress Rehearsals are December 2, 3, and 4 at the Theater at the Fort, in Lawrence. Performances are December 5-8.
All Class sessions and rehearsals will be at the St. Rock’s Cafeteria.
Students who are cast in the show and enrolled in the Theater Practicum Class will initially only meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-9:00pm (unless they have a larger role, which may also require rehearsal on Thursday night, too.).
As the class progresses, all young people will also be called to rehearsals on Thursday nights from 6:00-9:00 as well.
Our production is the 60-minute Broadway version of *A Christmas Carol* featuring a score by Alan Menken (who also wrote the music for Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame).
Auditions (for ages 8 – adult) are at the St. Roch’s School School Cafeteria at 3606 S. Meridian St, Indianapolois 46217 on Monday, August 5 from 6:00 – 9:00pm.
If you are unavailable for the General Audition on Monday, August 5 from 6:00 – 9:00pm, please send a video audition to info@agapetheatercompany.com (an in-person audition is preferable).
Auditioners will sing a one-minute memorized cutting of a song that shows their singing range and acting ability. Please bring a karaoke or back-up track on your phone to auditions. Performers who sing acapella at auditions may not be considered for a lead.
Performers will also learn a simple dance combination with their audition group to demonstrate their stage movement ability and stage presence
After choosing your audition slot, please complete and submit your Audition paperwork listed on our website.
We anticipate casting 35 performers.
Performers under age 18 who are cast will pay $200 tuition to cover 40+ hours of instruction in singing, dancing, and acting. Tuition also to helps to pay for the many expenses of costumes, scenery and royalties. The fee must be paid before the first class session on Tuesday, August 27 (unless arrangements have been made in advance to pay in installments at info@agapetheatercompany.com)
No performer who is cast in the show will be turned away because of their inability to pay tuition. Agape works with performers to gain the scholarship aid necessary for them to participate.
Performers over the age of 18 will not pay tuition, but they are encouraged to help find sponsors for the production.
All staff, performers ages 18+ and parent volunteers who work directly with minors will need to do a background check (a fee of $9.99) to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
Parents will need to attend two mandatory informational meetings and be available to help during Tech Week.
Performers will be asked to provide shoes, socks, tights, under-dressing garments, and some personal items. Also, dancers will be required to provide their own dance shoes.
