Artist Living Wage Survey

Artist Living Wage Survey

Indy Arts Council is committed to advocating, educating, and providing resources that promote just compensation and good working conditions for artists. The Arts Council will continue working with the arts and culture sector to develop consistent practices that advance the Artist Living Wage Initiative.

Indy Arts Council, in partnership with INSPIRE Music Collective, invites you to participate in a survey conducted by Indiana University. This survey is a joint effort to assess the economic status of artists and cultural practitioners in the greater Indianapolis area. If you received this survey from more than one source, please only complete it once.

This survey provides a vital opportunity for creatives to provide feedback about the nature of their work, income and wages, and financial well-being, and to inquire about the types of resources that would best sustain their livelihoods.

Indy Arts Council and INSPIRE Music Collective plan to use the survey results to advocate for policies, funding opportunities, programming, and resources to improve the compensation, working environments, and pay transparency that supports Indianapolis-based artists and cultural practitioners.

This survey will take about 30 minutes to complete. Neither the Arts Council nor INSPIRE Music Collective will have access to your name in association with your survey responses, either individually or collectively.

The survey is being conducted by Ashlyn Aiko Nelson, a professor at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. For questions about the study or if you encounter a problem with the research, contact the researcher at (812) 855-5599 or by email, ashlyn@iu.edu
