Aurora PhotoCenter’s residencies offer invaluable opportunities for artistic development and highlight our Indianapolis arts community as a center of creative production. Aurora offers two residencies in 2026: The Aurora + Herron Residency and the Aurora Workspace Residency.
The application deadline for both residencies is March 31, 2026.
The 2026 Aurora + Herron Residency takes place August 10-21, 2026. A collaboration between Aurora PhotoCenter and Herron School of Art + Design, the residency offers a two-week intensive work period in the Herron darkroom and studios, a $1,000 stipend, and a place to stay on the campus of The Contemporary Art Museum of Indianapolis (CAMi).
The 2026 Aurora Workspace Residency offers a two-week intensive work period at Aurora PhotoCenter’s darkroom and digital lab, a $1,000 stipend, and a place to stay. Aurora will schedule the two-week period of the residency with the resident.
The residencies are open to all artists working in photography or photo-based media. Artists from any country or region may apply; Indiana and Indianapolis-based artists are eligible and encouraged to apply for both residencies.
