Big Car Seeks Applicants for the Artist & Public Life Residency (APLR)

Deadline: 05/15/2024

Located in the Garfield Park neighborhood of Indianapolis, Big Car Collaborative’s affordable housing residency program is an innovative approach to supporting artists who share their talents and skills to support positive change in the community.

Big Car has developed a perpetual system to help avoid displacement of artist neighbors from affordable housing while artists work, in part, to collaborate with other neighbors to boost the culture, creativity, livability, and economy of the local and greater community.

APLR’s goals are to support a society and community that are equitable, inclusive, creative, welcoming, respectful, empathetic, connected, curious, informed, adventurous, healthy, and happy. Learn more here: https://www.bigcar.org/project/aplr/

Five of the 18 homes in the program on the block are co-owned with the artists. The others are affordable rental homes or short-term visiting artist houses. Please talk with Big Car staff or look online for details about current available homes and pricing.
