Call for Art for February Show at Magpie Gallery

HEARTLESS / RED FLAGS
Magpie Artspace | February First Friday Heartless / Red Flags is a group exhibition exploring emotional warning signs, ignored signals, and the quiet bargains we make in the pursuit of connection. This show looks at attraction without sentimentality—where desire, power, vulnerability, and self-deception intersect. We are seeking work that reflects:
• Emotional imbalance or tension
• Subtle or overt warning signs
• The psychology of attraction, attachment, or avoidance
• The moment before clarity—or after denial
This is not a Valentine’s show. Hearts, romance clichés, and literal illustrations of love will be considered only if they are clearly subversive, critical, or recontextualized.
Media: All visual media considered (2D, 3D, fiber, assemblage, mixed media, photography, small installations). All work meant for hanging must have a wire installed.
Tone: Conceptual, psychological, restrained, raw, unsentimental.
Submission: Up to 3 works with title, medium, dimensions, and a brief (2–3 sentence) artist statement explaining relevance to the theme. Selected works should feel intentional, not illustrative.
