Good Grief!
Our world is on fire. The relentless, curated optics radiate through the looking glasses in our palms. How much can we hold? How can we hold something we cannot comprehend? How can we hold the grief of the world on top of our very own small but significantly heavy burdens? The global pandemonium doesnÃt eclipse our own personal grief. It compounds, obscures, invalidates, enflames, and mocks it. And at the same time is completely unrelated to it and deeply connected to it.
When it is all too much to hold, we have to put it down somewhere.
Good Grief! as an expression is a minced oath, an oxymoron, an attestation. Here it is an invitation to be vulnerable and bring your burdens, your rage, your rawest expressions, your sorest regrets, your guilty grievances, your manifestos, your authentic experiences.
All disciplines are welcome to apply Visual arts-2D, 3D, digital; installation; performance; music/sound; literature; theatre; culinary; etc. Also would like to pair the exhibit with some healing programming such as yoga, meditation, grief workshops, group critique with artists of exhibit, creative workshops; if you have a desire to contribute to collective healing with your talents, please apply.
