Div(x) Fellowship in Devised Theatre

Deadline: 02/05/2024

IF Theatre is thrilled to announce Div(x) Fellowship, 2024. Formerly known as DivaFest, this program is an innovative fellowship theater project created to provide a supportive and nurturing platform for femme and non binary creators to learn the essentials of theatrical production via non-traditional theatre-making practices like Moment Work, Frantic Assembly, Documentary Theatre, and more! Artists are not expected to bring scripts into this process, but you will bring a script out of it!

Participating fellows will work together under the guidance of a dedicated advisor to create a brand new play as a team. This play will be workshopped throughout the year and receive its world premiere as part of the IndyFringe Festival in August, before a final revision process and publication.

What We’re Looking For:
4-6 theatre-makers with a marginalized gender including women, non binary, and trans artists.

Thought-provoking, theatrical ideas: Participants should be interested in creating work outside the bounds of traditional producer, director, playwright relationships, and invested in learning more about themselves, their craft, and how to tell their stories on stage.

Artistic excellence and innovation: We’re seeking fresh voices from a variety of mediums. This room is best supported by having a mix of actors, designers, directors, playwrights, and those who consider themselves hybrid artists.

A re-produceable script:
The fellows will finish the project with a complete 50-60 minute script, which IF Theatre may auction and represent in order to help secure a lasting future for your creative work.

Financial support: A $600 honorarium will be given to each fellow for their time in development.
Fellows will also receive 11 – 17% of their total ticket sales revenue from the IndyFringe Festival.

Additional Royalties – Fellows will receive an additional royalty payment for any future performances of their completed play.
Production skills: Fellows will practice vital skills like budgeting, marketing, and project management. They will also learn how to pitch a play for production.
