Description

The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir is searching for a passionate and results-oriented leader to join our senior management team as the Manager of Production and Operations. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth delivery of all choir activities, collaborating closely with the Executive Director and a dedicated team. This crucial role will partner with the Artistic Director and Executive Director to achieve the Choir’s mission and oversee the production of all choir events (concerts, rehearsals, tours) for a seamless and cost-effective experience.

Requirements

 

  • Oversee the successful implementation of all rehearsals, performances, education initiatives, and domestic and international travel opportunities for a 150-member volunteer chorus
  • Act as the central point of contact for choir activities, fostering effective communication across internal and external teams
  • Handle highly detailed production needs, including scheduling of production days, venue rentals, securing additional equipment, coordinating staging requirements and other logistical arrangements
  • Drive operational excellence by implementing improvements and streamlining processes.
  • In consultation with the Artistic Director, this position directs artistic operations including oversight of performance-related contracts and venue responsibilities.
  • Coordinate detailed production timings and schedules for all live performances and events
  • Manage the procurement of performance licenses, music equipment, instruments and services for operational purposes as needed
  • Maintain and disseminate all master schedules for the organization and communicate with staff team to coordinate Season Announcement
  • Coordinate Guest Artist contracting, travel, transportation and lodging and arrange for onsite hospitality within budget allocation
  • Serves as principal liaison to the artists, musicians, and tour managers to ensure a positive artistic experience.
  • This position is the primary point of contact with our volunteer leadership: audition coordinator, section leaders, choir librarian, attire coordinator, and mentor coordinator.
  • Must be able to recruit/retain staff/volunteers; and must be able to delegate/manage responsibilities as appropriate
  • Manage volunteer programs, administrative volunteers, artistic volunteers (section leaders, librarian, etc.)
  • Monitor production expenses in relation to the established budget line items
  • Maintain inventories of organizational property and production supplies
  • Advise of production costs in the budgetary process
  • The Manager of Production and Operations will serve as functional liaison between the choir membership and the professional staff
  • Work with ISC Team to cultivate and solicit community partnerships and relationships that support the mission of the organization
  • Attend Indianapolis Symphonic Choir events regularly to nurture and grow relationships with donors and prospects
  • Collaborate with various board committees, where necessary
  • Support in planning and execution of major events (e.g. fundraising events).
  • Supports Artistic Director as needed in training and oversight of conducting fellows.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Three years of experience in production/operations for a performance or presenting organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in music or related field, equivalent work or fellowship in arts management or with an arts organization preferred
  • Experience working successfully with vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical teams
  • A team player with outstanding communications skills who will contribute to a positive work atmosphere to get results in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in spreadsheet creation and management
  • Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) database preferred
  • Working knowledge of classical repertoire preferred but not required

Salary & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary in the range, commensurate with your experience and qualifications. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, this role is typically a hybrid work-model, with the exception of production weeks.  Please note that increased workload is expected during production periods.
