The Indianapolis Zoo is seeking a Director of Creative Services to provide overall leadership and ongoing interpretation and direction to implementation of the brand standards and aesthetic program of the Indianapolis Zoo including building interiors and exteriors, campus amenities, environmental graphics and print materials. The Director supervises all the functions of the department and personnel. The department consists of the Director, Manager of Creative Services, Graphic Designer, Graphic Production & Scheduling Coordinator, Senior Signage Specialist & Environmental Graphics Manager and a part-time Production Technician.
Qualifications and Background:
• Ten (10) years’ professional experience in a similar setting with five (5) year’s supervisory experience in a creative department with experience in graphic design, exhibit design, signage, advertising, publishing, print production processes and overall implementation of institutional brand and standards.
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong writing and editing skills required.
• Proven ability to create and manage a budget.
• Ability to read architectural and mechanical drawings.
• Must be detail-oriented and extremely organized. Strong project management skills required.
• Expert level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Must be an intermediate user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with large format vinyl output software is a plus. Familiarity with 3D software such as SketchUp beneficial.
• Ability to use drills, drill press, circular saws and a variety of other power and hand tools preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Design Management, etc. from an accredited institution required.
• A valid Indiana Driver’s License required.
