How well do central Indiana’s performance venues serve the needs of residents?
That’s the question at the heart of the upcoming Venue Inventory and Needs Assessment undertaken by Indy Arts Council in partnership with CICF.
With results expected later this year, the study is a first-of-its-kind look at the performance arts landscape throughout our nine-county region. Through surveys, site visits, and outreach, the study will provide crucial data that can help artists, venue owners, and developers strategize their unique approaches to fulfilling residents’ demand for arts and entertainment. The findings are expected to help address gaps in venue capacity, assess market demand, connect venues to shared resources, and even facilitate renovations.
The study will include performance venues of all sizes, as well as multi-use and other dynamically utilized venues. That means everything from park amphitheaters to concert halls to barroom stages.
Most importantly, by including the wider region in the study, funding partners Indy Arts Council, CICF, and IEDC hope it will strengthen the entire central Indiana performing arts landscape in ways that every community can appreciate.
To complete the assessment, we have partnered with Hunden to create a survey to determine the current baseline of arts and entertainment venues in the central Indiana region and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
