As the Purple Line bus rapid transit (BRT) route nears construction completion, IndyGo is excited to announce a community photography project celebrating the Purple Line and the communities it serves. IndyGo invites those who live, work, ride or worship along 38th Street to participate in one of two photo shoots that will take place at upcoming community festivals along the route:
- Saturday, July 20, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
New Direction Back 2 School Block Party
5640 East 38th St. | New Direction Church – Fellowship Hall - Saturday, July 27, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Far Eastside Festival
8902 East 38th St.| Community Alliance of the Far Eastside (CAFE) Indy – Board Room
Participants will have a headshot taken by renowned, Indianapolis-based portrait photographer Jay Goldz, that will be used as art at Purple Line station platforms when the route opens this fall.
“The Purple Line has been a collaboration between IndyGo and the community every step of the way,” said Jordan Patterson, IndyGo special programs manager. “We think of this project as something we share with residents, and this campaign to feature them on station platforms allows us to showcase that.”
While walk-ins will be accepted, those who register at the link here by Friday, July 19, will be prioritized. A photo release form must be signed upon arrival. Participants are encouraged to wear solid color tops and to come with hair and makeup ready.
The venues listed above are accessible by IndyGo’s Route 39. Riders can plan their trips on IndyGo by visiting our website here. For more information about the Purple Line, click here.
