The Position:
This position supports the Fine Arts Program chair through oversight and administrative support of gallery and
exhibition programs. The role is integral to advancing the mission of the exhibition programs, which aim to provide students with professional-level exhibition opportunities that enhance their career readiness and align with the department’s educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities are related to the exhibition program in the Fine Arts department.
Administrative Responsibilities
Installation:
● Create labels and other didactic materials as needed.
● Repair and paint gallery hardware as needed.
● Assist in the setup and tear-down of exhibits and displays.
● As required, assist with preparation and tear-down of receptions for exhibitions.
● Create virtual exhibitions for all internal and external shows.
Ideation:
● Plan exhibitions including titles and themes of exhibitions
● Create and maintain a calendar of exhibitions (internal and external) 15-18 months in advance.
● Prepare calls for entries and other student exhibition paperwork as needed.
● Manage and maintain relationships with existing exhibition partners while developing new partnerships with local galleries and exhibition spaces to support external program initiatives. Coordinate installation and teardown of exhibits with external partners. This work will be extensive over the next year until a new gallery space on campus is established.
Marketing and Promotion:
● Maintain exhibition mailing list.
● Design, create and distribute promotional, marketing, and exhibition opportunities as needed.
● Create virtual exhibitions for all internal and external shows.
Other:
● Maintain inventory of building materials, tools/equipment and exhibit consumables, and order supplies as needed after approval by the Program Chair.
● Order other supplies and consumables as approved by the Program Chair.
● Assist with Fine Arts programs and projects as needed.
Customer Service Expectation:
● Provide a friendly, inviting atmosphere in the gallery and reception areas.
● Maintain a schedule of open gallery hours.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
● Observe safety and risk management procedures in public areas and workspaces.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Studio Arts or Art History
1-3 years of experience working in a gallery setting
The Gallery and Exhibitions Manager has working knowledge of basic math, the ability to work independently, demonstrated attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The Gallery and Studio Assistant must:
Be able to climb a ladder
Sustain extended periods of walking and moderate physical activity
Use hands to feel and manipulate tools and materials, and reach with hands and arms
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Starting Salary Range: $18.00 per hour
