MLK Park Mural Assistant Application
We are seeking dedicated Mural Assistants to support the creation of a large-scale mural at MLK Park in Indianapolis from April 9-30. Collaboration in partnership with Friends of MLK Park Committee & Boxx The Artist.
This 1,200 sq. ft. mural consists of 3 walls in total that will blend abstract and portrait elements, celebrating the park’s legacy, community and highlight youth chess group Masters of Disaster.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public art! No prior mural experience is required, but applicants must have experience working with paint, brush handling, paint mixing, clean-ups, touch-ups, and site preparation. Assistants will work closely with the lead artist, helping to bring the vision to life while learning key mural techniques.
Role & Responsibilities:
– Assist with painting, touch-ups, and layering (ability to paint precisely clean line work and portrait experience preferred but not required)
– Help with paint mixing and color preparation
– Support site prep and clean-up
– Work collaboratively with the lead artist and team
– Follow artistic direction and maintain mural quality

– Location: MLK Park, Indianapolis
– Compensation: Apprenticeship opportunity with hands-on learning experience, $1000 Stipend Apprenticeship, $500 mural assistant for up to 25hrs at $25 per hr
or $1500 for one artist that meet time commitments and fulfill mural assistant duties.
