I’d like to invite you to participate as a drawing artist in Newfields’ Monster Drawing Rally. This year, MDR will take place on Saturday, December 7 from 11:30 am to 3:30pm in the Randolph H. Deer Special Events Pavilion.
We are excited to announce that guests of all ages are invited to watch as artists quickly create mini masterpieces during four one-hour drawing sessions. As is customary, each completed piece will be sold for $40, first come, first serve.
We are offering each artist 50% of all art sales (after square app processing fees) or an $80 guarantee, whichever is greater, to participate in one hour-long drawing session. Artists are also invited to bring up to four works created outside the event to sell. In the spirit of MDR, we ask that this work be sold for $40 and be created on 11×14 paper and in a quick MDR like process.
We will be able to accommodate 20 artists this year. Each time slot, 11:30 – 12:30pm, 12:30 – 1:30pm, 1:30 – 2:30pm, and 2:30 – 3:30pm will host 5 artists.
If you’d like to accept the invitation to participate, please follow the link below to a Google form to quickly RSVP by inputting your contact information, website, and materials.

More information about MDR:
What materials can I use?
Newfields will provide basic pencils, erasers, and 11 x 14-inch Bristol smooth 100lb drawing paper. The paper has a bit of tooth (cold press) to it and should be able to handle glue, light washes of paint, markers, charcoal, etc. Finished pieces will be put in a clear plastic protective sleeve to hang. If you bring your own paper, it must be 11×14 or smaller to fit.
Artists are asked to bring their own specialty materials: markers, pens, string, glue, paint, collage materials, printing blocks, etc. Stay away from stinky products, fire, or hazardous materials. Any paint should be water based and dry quickly. It can’t be wet when it goes up for sale. We don’t have easy access to a work sink, so don’t count on using one as part of your process.
Where has it been in the past?
Southern Exposure (San Francisco)
Midway Contemporary Art (Minneapolis):
Spaces Gallery (Cleveland)
North Carolina Museum of Art
PCSC Arts and the Kimball Art Center
High Museum of Art

We encourage you to bring along your business card. This is a community driven and art centered fundraiser. It is local people supporting local artists. What could be better than that? It’s a lot of fun. I promise.
What about my fellow artists?
If you have friends or other suggestions of artists that would like to participate, please do not forward this invitation, but rather send us their contact info and website. We have a capacity limit and we are trying to balance the field of artists, so please forward any names and we will try to fit them in this year or next.
We look forward to seeing you at Monster Drawing Rally!
