The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announces the opening of registration for the 2024 Summer Institute for Creative Teaching. The Summer Institute for Creative Teaching began in 2023 and is a partnership with the Indiana Department of Education. The 2024 Summer Institute will take place July 10-12, 2024, at the Herman B. Wells Community Center at Lebanon High School, Lebanon, Indiana.
The Summer Institute for Creative Teaching is a three-day, in-person learning experience for Indiana educators. Through hands-on experience and collaboration with peers, participants will learn effective and innovative teaching strategies to implement in their classrooms. The Summer Institute will include engaging artistic activities and opportunities to explore how creative teaching can enhance curriculum.
The conference is designed for both classroom educators who are interested in trying new creative activities and learning how to apply them to their curriculum, as well as arts education programming staff at arts organizations who want to connect with peers and learn new strategies in arts learning.
The conference registration fee is $75 and includes materials, supplies, and meals (two breakfasts and two lunches). After May 1, the fee increases to $110. Scholarships are available for educators to attend at a partially or fully reduced rate.
Registration for the Summer Institute will remain open until May 15, 2024. Learn more and register here.
