The Indiana Flybrary Project is looking for volunteers to help with construction and decoration of Flybrary Boxes destined to various locations across Indiana. Each box will be unique and serve as a permanent art installation for the woodworker and the artist.
The concept of the project is to create communal boxes that house fishing lures and donated rods for the public. The boxes will be carved by local woodworkers and painted/decorated by local artists. The boxes will also house information on the creators, local woodworkers, artists, fishing guides, fly/lure makers, and conservation groups. In essence someone walking up to the box with no knowledge of fishing or local efforts will be able to walk away with what they need to become involved.
This is purely volunteer basis for the chance to create a permanent art installation. We are raising funds through GoFundMe, merchandise sales, and a silent auction/fundraiser night. There are grants currently waiting to be reviewed as well. If we can raise the goal of $10,000 for 40 boxes we aim to pay the woodworkers, artists, and lure/fly makers $65 each for materials. Remaining proceeds will pay for the concrete, posts, and mounting hardware as well as upkeep of the installations.
