Since 1999, White River State Park has sponsored an outdoor sculpture exhibition that has proven to be very successful and popular with visitors in the park and the city of Indianapolis.
For the 2025 term, we are accepting one sculpture that is available for installation in April/May 2025 and to be displayed until April 2028. The White River State Park Development Commission will pay the artist(s) a $5,000 honorarium. In addition, the Park will reimburse up to a maximum of $6,000 to help offset the costs of transporting the sculpture to and from Indianapolis, installation, and removal of the piece.
o The program is open to sculptors in Indiana and the Midwest.
o Sculptures will be displayed for three years beginning on or after April 1st, 2025.
o The honorarium is $5,000 plus up to a maximum of $6,000 reimbursement to offset costs of transportation, installation, and removal of the piece.
o Mileage and receipts must be submitted for reimbursement. Artists are responsible for all aspects of delivery, installation, and de-installation.
Application Requirements and Procedure
o Artist’s statement and resume
o A written description of proposed artwork, including: title, date, medium, dimensions (height x width x depth), estimated weight, and installation requirements.
o Photos taken from several different views with image annotations.
o Deadline for submissions must be postmarked or emailed to Elizabeth Nunn (enunn@wrsp.in.gov) no later than Friday, January 31st, 2025.
o The work must be constructed of materials able to endure the conditions of an outdoor exhibition, suitable for public display, and not present safety concerns.
