GAVIN–Divergence is a permanent installation located at the gateway to Broad Ripple Village—one of Indianapolis’s most historic and culturally diverse neighborhoods. Positioned at the intersection of College Avenue, Westfield Boulevard, and Broad Ripple Avenue, the sculpture serves as a modern guardian, honoring Broad Ripple’s legacy of openness, transformation, and artistic expression. With its upward stance and transparent frame, Divergence marks the convergence of past and future, embodying the spirit of a community that welcomes difference and thrives on creative energy.

For the artist, Jason Myers, this sculpture is both a personal homecoming and a tribute to the resilient spirit of Indiana. Divergence weighs 3 tons and is fabricated from approximately 1,000 individual pieces of metal, hand bent and welded together over 8 months.

The sculpture is presented courtesy of the Birge Family Foundation and is supported by the Broad Ripple Village Association and the Indianapolis Art Center.
