This mural shows historic Fort Ben as a place to live, learn, work, and play.

An American flag sweeps across the entire mural, paying homage to the location’s military past. The interurban is pictured at the center, showing what transportation was like in the early 1900’s around Fort Ben; there is also a hint as to the future of transportation in the area with the inclusion of IndyGo’s Purple Line logo. Nature is represented by wild ginger around the interurban image, wildflowers, birds, and butterflies, all of which can be seen throughout Fort Harrison State Park in various seasons. Recreation is represented by the golf ball, available at The Fort Golf Resort. Education is defined by a stack of books, with Ivy Tech and the public library shown as great places to learn in the area. The community’s historic water tower makes an appearance in the mural as well, paying homage to the past.

The mural is situated at the last stop on Indy Go’s Purple Line. The artist is Indianapolis-based Tasha Beckwith, a painter, digital artist, and muralist.
