This humorous mural of a selection of domestic animals playing in a jazz quartet graces the north-facing wall of the building housing Northside Paws, a veterinary clinic, and serves as its signage. The location of the mural near the famed Jazz Kitchen doubtless inspired the artist.
The attending vet, Dr. Frank, has a German Shepherd, so the artist depicted one playing the drums. She also has a black cat, as does the artist, so the black cat on double bass is a double tribute. He also bears a striking resemblance to Boomer, the Pacers’ mascot, a favorite team of the artist. Another mascot tribute is the bulldog playing the saxophone, referring to Butler University located nearby. Finally, the artist’s beloved cat Rosco appears as the lead singer.
