The phoenix is a mythical bird that lives for 500 years and is reborn from the ashes of its own self-immolation it is a universal symbol of renewal and in several cultures is an allegory of immortality. These wooden phoenix wings use the technique of “forced perspective,” which uses optical illusions to make objects look closer, farther, or a different size than they really are. The set was commissioned by the owners of Colonial Tavern.
